Halloween Ladue View
I'm immensely proud of the show that we created. It came down to the wire, but despite it all, we got it done. It was super exciting to see everyone come together and create something so unique and different from what we made in years past. As we developed this Ladue view I thought about how we should continue forward and what changes we might want to make. I believe there are a few different options: One choice is to keep the same format we have been doing: create videos and form and show around them. Even though This method works-every time I can't help but think there has to be a better way. When we do this too often it ends up that we have a less cohesive show. It's hard to establish and constant theme and in turn, we lose viewers. Students were so engaged with the Halloween episode. I believe that's because we had a constant, consistent, and easy-to-follow theme. A constant theme adds a lot but it doesn't mean it's the best choice. Developing a theme after allows us more of a creative choice on what we work on it makes deadlines less tough and it's consistent to work on. Option one is the safe bet, reliable easy it works. Option two is to create a theme at the start and build videos around it. Option two is difficult and would require us to completely change the way we work there would be a bigger emphasis on deadlines and less freedom when it comes to videos. In return, I believe we get higher quality shows that engage more people. It would force us to stay on a strict schedule and release consistent shows. With this plan, if we fail to make deadlines not only can we not reuse themed videos, but also that month's entire Ladue view won't get created. I think option two is the high-risk high-reward option. Option three is something completely different. Option three would mean an overhaul of the entire format and creating something new from the ground up. I honestly don't know what this option might look like, Ideally, it would allow us to release consistent engaging shows while maintaining creative choice. A lot of work would have to go into this option. Not to mention the daunting task of creating it Such a format sounds too good to be true. I honestly think it is. I'm not quite sure what direction Ladue view should go in. It's scary to mess with a system that works but the possible rewards might be worth it. This Ladue view taught us a lot and I think showed us there are other options but nothing is perfect. In the end, I'm excited to see wherever it goes and willing to put in the work to make whatever we are creating the best it can be.
