60 Second Teaser Trailer
The 60-second video is such an interesting project if you properly seize it's potential telling a story in 60 seconds can be difficult and daunting. It presents an interesting challenge you need to be able to communicate everything from the setting, conflict, character, and tone with less than a minute to work with. I have found that its best to come up with an ending and beginning before the actual meat of your story this forces you to confine what you want to make in between these set start and end points and if done right will make sure you follow a proper story arc with beginning middle and end. For my video, I wanted to create a teaser trailer for a huge year-long project I've been working on. This seemed appropriate because not only is it a fun interesting concept but also teaser trailers are short-sweet and should hook the watcher immediately. The video depicts me sitting in a dark smokey room intercut between old videos of me in Late night with Maxwell (An older talk show I hosted when I was younger) in the background there is a growing drone that eventually gets so loud it almost overpowers the clips until finally, it stops I look at the screen and remark “I’ve got to get better a this” before cutting to black and displaying the name a realize date of my new project “A Few Bits Of Advice coming early spring”. A Few Bits Of Advice vaguely resembles Late night with Maxwell, and I wanted this trailer to help communicate my interesting relation to Late night with Maxwell, on one hand, they sparked my interest in broadcast and set me down the path to be where I am now. But on the other hand, I can't help but compare them to my work now and cringe at my 4rth grade humor. I recognize it's unfair to judge them nowadays due to me being nine at the time they were made, nevertheless they haunt me in a way. I haven't done anything like them since so I wanted this trailer to show that struggle with my old videos and eventual evolution and growth towards new and better stuff. I really hope I captured that because it sets the tone entirely for A Few Bits Of Advice and everything I'll be working on this year. This project was a fantastic first video for the year I'm really proud of what I made and hope I can keep up this energy throughout the year.
